BOULDER — Travis Hunter could be back sooner than planned.A week after pumping the brakes on the return of his two-way star, CU Buffs football coach Deion Sanders said Tuesday at his weekly news conference that there’s a “serious chance” Hunter, his cornerback/wide receiver, could play against 1-4 Stanford on Friday night at Folsom Field.“It goes by how he looks, how he performs in practice,” Sanders said of Hunter, who returned to practice recently. “He has to be in shape. I don’t want him to be a liability. I want him to be a tremendous asset.”Hunter, a sophomore transfer from Jackson State, hasn’t played since the first half of the Rocky Mountain Showdown against CSU on Sept. 16. The defensive back left the game after taking a first-half hit from the Rams’ Henry Blackburn, a shot that drew ire for Blackburn and his family through social media. Hunter reportedly suffered a lacerated liver on the play.Sanders said last wee...

By Michael R. Sisak and Jennifer Peltz | Associated PressNEW YORK — Donald Trump signed a document 30 years ago that gave the true size of his New York penthouse that was later listed as far larger on his financial statements, according to evidence shown Tuesday at the former president’s civil business fraud trial. The evidence appeared in an email attachment shown as Allen Weisselberg, the former finance chief of Trump’s company, testified in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ fraud lawsuit against Trump and his Trump Organization. Trump denies any wrongdoing. The attachment was a 1994 document, signed by Trump, that pegged his Trump Tower triplex at 10,996 square feet — not the 30,000 square feet later claimed for years on financial statements that were given to banks, insurers and others to make deals and secure loans.Weisselberg said he recalled seeing the email but not the attachment, explaining that the attachments were documents he already had on file in...

San Francisco’s ‘last vibrant time’: Photographer captures city’s 1990s queer renaissance

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 08:54:29 GMT

Oakland photographer Chloe Sherman’s new book of images immerses viewers in the last time San Francisco might be able to say it lived up to its promise of being an epicenter of American counterculture. In the 1990s, San Francisco was the focus of a queer cultural renaissance, largely based in the Mission District. Then in her 20s, Sherman was part of this liberating, boundary-pushing social scene. Camera always in hand, she copiously photographed her friends — stylish and spirited queer youth, punks and artists — hanging out at clubs or around the neighborhood, at the beach or in the intimacy of their apartments. These photos now star in “Renegades: San Francisco the 1990s” (128 pages, Hatje Cantz). Sherman and her friends gravitated to San Francisco for its beauty and its history of welcoming iconoclasts — the beats in the 1950s, the hippies in the 1960s and gay men in the 1970s and 1980s. Just before the dot-com boom, the city also remained affordable e...

Amazon’s October Prime Day Deals rival Black Friday, Cyber Monday

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 08:54:29 GMT

October Prime Day is officially here, opening to eager shoppers at a sleepy 12:01 a.m. PT. What’s the early verdict on Amazon’s Oct. 10-11 sale, actually called Prime Big Deal Days? It’s right there with Black Friday, Cyber Monday and July Prime Day as one of the best times of the year to shop.NerdWallet monitored prices on a handful of popular products at Amazon, Target and Walmart during every major sale period of 2023, plus Black Friday and Cyber Monday (the Friday and Monday after Thanksgiving) of 2022.Bottom line: Depending on what product you’re buying, October’s Prime Big Deal Days is just as good as Prime Day (July 11-12) and Cyber Monday (Nov. 28 last year). Three of the 10 items we watched hit bottom dollar last Cyber Monday, three reached their lowest price during the July Prime Day and three dropped to the lowest price today during Prime Big Deal Days. It’s also not uncommon to see price parity on popular items during sales. For example, Apple AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) regula...
